Single or Double-Wall tanks ... Storing Chemicals in Accordance with Regulations
There are two main reasons that will help you choose a single or a double-wall tank: - Is the chemical a hazardous product?
For example, no spill containment is needed for water storage. However, to store sulphuric acid or ferrique chloride, a spill containment or double-wall is imperative.

Storage tanks must be placed on top of a flat surface that will keep its shape no matter the weight. Stockage & Systèmes advices its customers to regularly check the quality of tank supports.
Our Advice Depending on the implementation and the constraints of the future installation, a single-wall tank may require a spill containment or a spill containment basin of an important size. Double-wall tanks (integrated spill containment tanks) allow to install solid and autonomous facilities. A single concrete slab is needed for the whole installation. In outdoor installations, a collar prevents rain water to get into the spill containment. Rules for Spill Containments' Design A spill containment can be designed in double-wall (HDPE or PPH: tank + integrated spill containment); or in concrete (a concrete spill containment including a tank that can be installed within it or placed over a concrete slab surface). Regardless the material used for the spill containment design (concrete or with integrated double-wall), an available volume must be left in order to collect the total volume of the full tank, in case of tank malfunctioning. If the installation of several single-wall tanks is required, the size of the concrete spill containment must correspond to 50% of the total volume of the tanks (or equivalent to the one storing the biggest volume)
