Chapter II: Prevention of accidents and accidental pollution, including by rainwater
Section 3: Storage
Article 10
I - All storage of a liquid that may pollute waters or soils must be combined with a retention capacity whose volume must be equal to the greatest of the two following values :
- 100% of the capacity of the largest reservoir
- 50% of the capacity of the associated reservoirs
This provision is not applicable to basins for treating residual waters.
For storing the container with a unit capacity less than or equal to 250 liters, the retention capacity must be at least equal to :
- in the case of flammable liquids, with the exception of lubricants, 50% of the total capacity of the barrels
- in other cases, 20% of the total capacity of the barrels
- in other cases, 800 liters minimum or equal to the total capacity when it is less than 800 liters.
II - The retention capacity must be sealed to products that it may contain and resist the physical and chemical action of fluids. The same goes for its stopper device which must be kept closed.
The sealing of the associated reservoir(s) must be able to be checked at any time.
Products recovered in the event of an accident may not be disposed of except under the conditions compliant with the order or disposed of as waste.
Reservoirs or containers containing incompatible products are not associated in the same retention.
